In-Person Over 50s Yoga Therapy

with light weights

Thursday 10 - 11.30 am
Above the Lamppost Café, Burrs Country Park, Bury, BL8 1DA

yoga class

In-person Over 50s Yoga Therapy covers all areas of yoga and includes working with light weights to help strengthen and develop a balanced, all-round practice. The postures are relatively gentle but effective and safe, and, as a fully trained and qualified yoga therapist, I can adapt the practice to suit your body and overall needs.

Situated above the Lamppost Café in Burrs Country Park, Bury, this venue is the ideal location for a yoga therapy class. The room is warm, bright and airy, and we are surrounded by beautiful countryside. During relaxation we can often hear the birds singing in the trees and the sound of the river running nearby. There is also the bonus of being able to go for a coffee and cake after the practice. What more could you want?

The class is drop-in so you do not have to book. You will need to bring your own yoga mat, blanket, and blocks.

In-person sessions give you the benefit of more individual support and attention and the bonus of some sociable company. For a regular mid-week boost, come along when you can.

yoga class

This class gives you the opportunity to explore and discover how all the different parts of yourself – body, mind and emotions, can work together to improve your sense of wellbeing. The focus is very much on helping and supporting you to work with your body, whatever issues you might or might not have, each time you practice.

All areas of yoga, such as postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques are covered but used in a therapeutic way. If you come to class regularly it can help improve your physical mobility, strength, balance, mental focus and much more.

Many different health conditions can be supported by the sessions. Previous, and existing, students have reported improvements in their breathing, sleeping patterns, anxiety and energy levels. Mechanical issues such as back, shoulder, knee and other joint complaints have also been improved by regular attendance at the classes.

However, for more complex or physically limiting issues; or if you would just like some more specific and individual care and attention, I would always recommend 1-2-1 sessions. These can take place either in the comfort of your own home, at my studio, or over zoom.

About Olivia

A perpetual student, I am always learning new things about the body, how it works and how yoga therapy practices can be used to improve it.

‘Listen to your body’ has been a constant mantra for me from the very first yoga class I attended.  I would still say it is the single most important instruction I use with all my students and continue to use in my own personal practices.
